Rooibos & Honeybush Tea

Rooibos & Honeybush tea are both plants from south Africa with amazing health benefits. Rooibos (pronounced as roy-bos) means “red bush” in the Afrikan language, this plant is so special that it only grows in one particular location in South Africa! This “red bush tea” is considered to be an iconic beverage in South Africa, though it is technically not really a true tea but rather a herb, the leaves have been used to brew tea for centuries. Honeybush tea known as the mountain tea, and is regarded as a close cousin of rooibos there are many similarities between the two but the main difference is the taste.

Rooibos has a naturally sweet, earthy and slightly nutty flavour while honeybush has undertones of wood and honey, this tea has a fuller body and is sweeter than rooibos. There are many health benefits of rooibos tea, firstly it is caffeine-free and low in tannins (especially when compared to other teas), and is said to be safe even for infants to drink! Rooibos is also super-rich in minerals and high in antioxidants. Rooibos tea has zinc, magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, and manganese, like a vitamin drink– except yummier! Honeybush tea equally has some of the best health benefits it is high in antioxidants as well these two herbal plant teas will soon be trending as the next best health teas like the popular green tea.
